AP News, I'm Ben Thomas, the Republican National Convention got ranked the business in Milwaukee, Eric Trump making this announcement during the roll call. "On behalf of the 125 delegates in the unbelievable state of Florida, we hereby nominate every single one of them for the greatest president that's ever lived in that's Donald J. Trump." K. Panjwani has more. Donald Trump has become the official Republican presidential nominee after receiving the votes of enough delegates at the Republican National Convention. Trump has been the presumptive nominee for months, but it was the vote of RNC delegates in Milwaukee that made it official. Trump hit the necessary threshold with votes from his home state of Florida. The move comes just minutes after Donald Trump selected Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio as his Republican running mate, M.H.A. Panjwani. President Biden heading to Las Vegas for a campaign event had this to say about Trump's the PPIC. President Biden's told NBC News it was a mistake to say he wanted to put a bullseye on Donald Trump in light of Saturday's assassination attempt, but in that interview he argued Trump's rhetoric has been more incendiary than his and maintained the Republican nominee remains a threat to Democratic institutions. Biden has directed the Secret Service to protect independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorka says adjustments have been made to the former president's detail to the current president's detail as well as to the vice president's detail. In a court victory for former President Trump, the federal judge presiding over the classified documents case against him has dismissed it. Eric Tucker has more. It's really about the mechanism by which the prosecutor who brought the case special counsel Jack Smith was appointed, and so it's a very technical dismissal that has no bearing on the actual allegations, the factual substance of this indictment. This is AP News. AP photographer Evan Vucci captured some of the most striking images of Saturday's assassination attempt on former President Trump. I was right in front of the stage. Evan Vucci was in the photography pool at Donald Trump's rally Saturday. At the moment I heard the shots being fired. I knew that this was a moment in American history that had to be documented. I mean, it's our job as journalists to do this work. His image showing a bloody Trump with his fist in the air surrounded by a Secret Service agents quickly took on iconic status. As he's walking down the ramp, he starts fist bumping to the crowd and waving. I did notice he had blood coming down his face, as you can see in the photos. He says he rushed to the stage at Trump's right, but his view of the former president was quickly blocked. He sensed that agents would try to move Trump into a vehicle and repositioned himself to the other side. They put him into an SUV and again, as he was getting into the SUV, he also started pumping his fist again. Doug Mills of The New York Times took a photo that appears to show evidence of one of the bullets whizzing by Trump's head. I'm Jennifer King. And I'm Ben Thomas. AP News.
