AP News, I'm Jackie Quinn, Republican delegates gathered at their convention in Milwaukee have already cast enough votes to make Donald Trump their nominee, and his running mate has been announced. Utah, the 45th state admitted to the union, today proudly cast all of its 40 delegate votes for President Donald J. Trump and his newly announced running mate, my friend and colleague, J.D. Vance. J.D. Vance, a first term senator from Ohio. Convention delegates noted the weekend attack at a Trump rally chanting the words that the president sent. At the White House, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas says he has full confidence in the Secret Service, and security has been upgraded for Donald Trump and President Biden and independent Robert Kennedy Jr. "We are in a heightened and very dynamic threat environment. The United States Secret Service, we, including the FBI and our other partners, across the federal government, take the threats very seriously and adjust security measures as warranted." In a busy week for Donald Trump, his classified documents case was thrown out today by federal judge Aileen Cannon in Florida. The AP's Eric Tucker reports. "The dismissal here is not a reflection of the judge's assessment of Trump's guilt or innocence. This is a very legal and technical argument." In Texas, there are still questions about why it's taking more than a week to restore power to thousands of Houston area residents after Hurricane barrel. Scientists have now confirmed the discovery of a cave on the moon. They think there's potential to use caves and tunnels to house future explorers. This is AP News. In Israel, new calls for peace in Gaza. Britain's new Foreign Secretary has called for an immediate ceasefireing Gaza during a visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories. David Lammy met with Israeli President Isaac Herzog in Jerusalem. The new British Foreign Secretary said he hoped to see a hostage deal soon. And he added, "I hope too that we see a ceasefire soon. And we bring an alleviation to the suffering and the intolerable loss of life that we're now seeing also in Gaza." Lammy also demanded that Israel halt settlement expansion in the Israeli-occupied West Bank Karen Shabas landed. Repeding our top story, Ohio Senator J.D.
