What's up everybody, welcome to a brand new edition of Buzzworthy Radio. I'm your host, Matthew Preston. I'm actually waiting for my co-host, I don't know where he's at. He's probably around somewhere. Anyway, we do have a really fun show for you plants tonight from New York City. As you guys know, I have moved to New York City. So I, while I'm here, what's the number one thing you want to do in New York City? Besides eat and, you know, yell at people because they get in your way. You want to listen to good music, right? So we sort of are having like a really cool segment right now of sort of a, you know, band that you have to like check out. No, well whenever I was at a, like I was actually checking out a friend show, King Duicki, you guys know her, she's been on the show before. Well, whenever we were there, actually I was checking out another band. They were awesome, totally at a good time. It was the tweez, and that's why the tweez are actually live with us right now. So let's bring them up. You guys there, I love the tweez. You were on the air with Buzzworthy Radio. What's up? How you doing? I'm here with, well Logan and me Jason. Hello. What's up guys? What's up? Nothing much. Practicing? That's where you guys are practicing, correct? Right? So for all of us, for all of us out there who have not heard yet, we're going to hear, you know, one of your singles pretty soon, but what kind of music do you guys play? We play, um, people classify as like garage, post-punk, Brit hop, indie rock, like that. Again, I think you know, I'm sorry mind dropping it. No, you know what, this, this show is sort of like the view, like everyone has to get a word in it, otherwise so, but yeah, that's actually, it's really cool that, um, I remember I saw you guys, actually I told you, you guys reminded me of like a junior version of The Stroke. You've gotten that before. Seriously, that's one of my favorite bands. I love The Strokes and the whole tonal listen to you guys, and I was not drunk and I was at a bar. You guys kind of sound like The Strokes. Thank you. We've heard that before, but, uh, I think, you know, we've, you know, I'm a new guitarist, I'm Alex, by the way, and, uh, you know, we've been honing on our sound a little bit more and we're not so much going away from the strokes, but we're, I guess we're finding a new sound and we're just all really excited to get into the studio and put out, you know, our next release. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, I'd say, it, I mean, it's, it's a little less angular and poppy, but it's a lot more melodic and I think it's, I think overall, it's a lot better. I agree. So tell, how, how did you guys form this band? How did you guys get together? Craigslist. Pretty fun. Really? Really? Yeah. I think like everyone from Craigslist. You can't ask for a better website. Oh my god, there's, there's that website is crazy. You can find the job and you can find sex, you know? I know you can find some, uh, good tickets, you know? No, no, they, they, they, they, they took the erotic services part out of Craigslist. That's true. I'm really pumped about that. I can't make money anymore. Alex, how do we know about this? Too funny. This is plus the name, this please. I, it's so beautiful. We have, we have like an artist on like, you know, Kevin Rudolph or Jamie Dewick. You know what their names are because thus they went with their name of the, for their album or for their, for their, you know, their artist appeal. How did you guys come up with the tweets? Well, I Jason came up with the name like my friend. He came back from London and he just kept like both staying like all this British slang. So I just, I was curious. So I was searching up some British words and then I found, um, tweet and that means the person is like disgustingly cute. Oh, yeah. I love the word. That's actually really cool. You guys love, you guys, you know, like London. I have to say, and I've, I've done this on the air before. I think it's actually to like all my British friends and probably your British friend would like punch me in the face if I ever told them. But I'm a huge fan of the show East Enders. I don't know if you guys have ever seen it. Yeah. It's a, it's a. British soap opera, people, you know, a bunch of bread screaming at each other. I'd say check it out. I think it's, it's, it's good. It's good. It can drop it, you know. Yeah, sure. The next time, next time you guys are in England, you got to go and check out the British soap opera system. You got to do it, right? How is London not too long ago? I saw some pretty funny soap operas and shows. They're interesting. Really, really funny soap operas, because you, I really can't understand it. I think it's a little more amusing. Hold on a second. Very true. Very true. So, plus you guys actually performed, you know, talking about Arlene Grocer. Grocerie, not Grocerie. Is it Grocer or Grocerie? Grocerie, correct? Sure. Yeah. Before I went to the show, I was actually, I was totally thinking, I was like, you know what? I'm like, I actually wonder, is this place like a grocery store? I mean, We thought this thing. I'm not going to lie. Hey, right? That needs to hurt me ever, actually. Yeah. It has a real grocery store. That one. I was thinking, like, you just go there. People are shopping and you're just on a stage. You know, like, people still mind. Yeah. Here is something, right? But how did you guys get that? I didn't know. How did you guys get that get? Because not only has, you know, you guys played there, but we've actually had, then again, I'm talking about folks again. Soap stars. I don't know if you heard of them. They are actually a New York City-based band. Really cool too. Kind of similar to what you guys play. They actually play there all the time. Only being Facebook requests to go to Arlene Grocerie. I need to check them out as well. And also, Jamie Licki was there. But how did you guys come up with that gig? We sent an email to the venue and we said, hey, we're a band from New York. Check out our music. And I guess they, like, really liked it. So you just had us perform at their venue. That's pretty cool. And you guys actually did a really good job. I mean, sort of like the band before was, I don't know. I don't know, like, the people weren't really digging the band before, but they were totally digging you guys. Thank you so much. I really appreciate that. No problem. See, this is why I would talk to, you know, you guys are not the band before. No, actually, you know, you guys were really cool. And that's why I was like, I always see, like every time, you have to get more music out there, more bands who need to be known. So you guys, like, have you guys actually started doing gigs? Have you had sort of like a success being in New York? I think we've been pretty successful given the amount of time we've been together on time in point shows. I just joined. I'm really impressed how the band, how well the band's been doing and how well we've been promoted so far. So I have no point. Yeah, I'd say the same. I mean, building up any crowd is something that takes a while, but I think for being that we just started, I'm happy with how we're doing so far. We've been leaving them together for, what, a year? Yeah. Not even, like, eight months. And I don't know, we've played the last shows, but I'm E.P. putting an album sometime soon. We're actually playing a show Wednesday. We're at co-host 66 with the answer machine there from the UK. Yeah. That's right. That's right. And what kind of sound is the answering machine? That sound very interesting, but I mean their name, but what are... Yeah, what are they like? I describe them like, block parting meets the Wombats. Like, it's such a good sound. You have to check out that band. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, they're their sexual musicians. They're all really talented. It's, you know, punchy, dancy in New Rock. Definitely influenced by, you know, older rock and roll, I think from, you know, the '50s. I hear a lot of that in their sound. But a very cool band. I would definitely check them out. Yeah. And they're still in New York until like November 17th, I believe. They're here for CMJ. They're here for a month, but they are amazing live. That's pretty cool. Yeah. So is there any, you know, covered stars or... Because these listeners want to know a bunch of these listeners are actually from New York City. So they will, actually. I mean, one of them may go to the show tomorrow. Oh, it's a free show and it's really good. It's a cool bar. It's right next to the R bar right across the street in Brooklyn. At Cocoa 66, it's a really, really, really cool place. Now, I've never been to Brooklyn. The only time I have to admit that I've ever been in Brooklyn is whenever I was on a wrong train going out of Manhattan. I was like, okay, why am I going across this? This is not where I have to go. So every time I'm going to Brooklyn, I'm always getting lost. So I have to go to Brooklyn for a reason. Maybe this is the reason. You should come and it's actually a 33-minute subway ride from Penn Station to the venue. And it's a really good neighborhood also. So no worries. Great point, right? Yeah. But you find some more reasons to go to Brooklyn. It's a great place, great music scene, great food. Especially Williamsburg. Williamsburg's great. Yeah. Lots of testers if you're in that. Very cool. I mean, I love New York City because of the whole culture. And that's what I want to know. Have you guys actually had a taste of fan culture? I mean, these people can be crazy and they can be cool. What have you guys experienced with fans? You know, we played a good amount of shows. We've seen a lot of people. You know, I love them all. No complaints there. I met one fan. I was at my job selling hot dogs, actually. And I kind of came up that I was in the tweet and they were like, "Oh, I've heard your EP. It's really good." And I was like, "Oh, I'm not actually on the EP, but thanks." But yeah, that was my only experience. I was frankly, I was shocked. To Newby, I want to know, you just say you wasn't new, guys. Have you guys, like, not like done any hazing, but like, how did you guys initiate him into the tweet? How did you make him an actual tweet? I didn't. As far as I know, there wasn't a formal initiation. I came over and I jammed for a bit and we all just, we just meshed really well musically and we took it from there. We just stick it. It's going to crowd you. It all came together and then they crowded it. That's pretty cool. Logan says we knighted him. It was a long, it was a long sweaty process. He's going to get way too far. Very nice, very nice. And we were talking about comparisons earlier, but aside from the stress, what do you think? What was your influence? Who do you guys look up to musically? Lourie. I don't know, I mean, I really like old school rock and roll. 50s, 60s, Motown, Eric kind of stuff. Big fan of British Invasion rock. I love indie rock. I'm a big fan of Phoenix, big fan of Radiohead. It'd be a great band from New York called the Post-Sells and definitely listen to their sound. You know, punchy kind of dancing to rock. Same kind of thing that we're doing a little bit. And I'm big in jazz music. So, you know, Jamie Rosenberg, Miles Davis, Benny Goodman kind of strings doing kind of stuff. Wow, that's actually a really cool mix. Yeah. So, yeah, pretty much that. It's like everything you think. No, that's actually really cool. And speaking of Phoenix, I just heard Phoenix for the first time tonight. It was going like, yeah, I was playing around my classes or something. And some of you are like, oh, this is Phoenix, something I kind of like this one. So, I'm definitely not more. Their new album is just excellent, but they had no one come out. Their last album, it's never been like that. In my opinion, it's better than Wolfgang Amadeus music. So, go out and go, definitely go on by it because they deserve the money. Of course, of course, and you guys, you have an EP. You don't really have like an album going on yet. It's the album in the works. This is, you know, everyone wants to know when is the tweed album coming out, if you guys are still in the mix. Well, as of now, I mean, compared to the kind of sound that we have on the EP that we released this summer, the songs that we've been writing, like we said before, it's a totally different sound. So, right now, we're kind of in between whether or not we want to take a really long time and really put out a good album and make people wait for the new sound or put out another four, five song EP that would really like put the new sound out there and get people waiting for you know, more in that kind of ballpark, you know. That's pretty cool. And plus, like any artist, if you guys were to make a music video for any of your songs, which one would it be? And of course, what would the direction of the music video look like? Ah, of course. I think full circle. Um, yeah? Okay, full circle or start again? Yeah, full circle, start again. And like, it'll be more, I feel like it'll be more of a performance music video, which is some really cool editing. I want to act. I'm kind of digging a snuff film kind of feel for it. So, I was wrong. Very cool. So, that's enough performance. Oh my God, that's too funny. Well, speaking of full circle, that is actually the song. And I will mention this because this is the first one I can find to download. That's actually the song we will be listening to in a little bit. But if you guys out there, any listeners out there who want to ask the tweet, some questions, you can actually get in all the fun that we have at Buzzworthy Radio here by calling into the show at 646-595-4228. I almost gave you guys the wrong number because that's why I do sometimes look at the wrong number. What happened? You know, I never know what happens to that on air. It's a lot of fun. It's totally a lot of fun. Well, and so, of course, guys, something else that I want to know. Um, who, growing up, if you guys can play with just about any like, you know, I was talking about your experiences earlier, your dream concert. If you guys could jam with any #1, I don't know, you know, I'm like, "The legitimate interest and air content." No, I mean, like, who would be the #1 artist or band that you would jam with? Oh God, this is a hard question. Oh, right? Really? You have to pick just one. I know it's not going to be way. But did you only cost walkers at that? Go for it. Did you only cost walkers? Nice. Yeah. It's a why, like, why would you want to chill? Or why would you want to jam? He is such a good composer. Did you listen to his side project? I can't say I haven't heard yet. I mean, I know who that is, but I haven't, I haven't heard that. It is so good. I can't even stress it. Yeah. Very cool. I'll check it out. Yeah, definitely. And plus, you guys can actually be reached, um, just like any band, you guys have a Myspace, correct? Yeah. Once you plug that, where can people, like, hear you guys and, you know, interact against where can they, what is your Myspace page? It is Myspace.com-the-twees-slash-slash. It's that easy, right? It is that easy. And it is very, ooh, go ahead. And our music is also on Walmart, not tunes right now. And uh, gimme sound.com. So you go to any of those places and purchase it or download it. And some places for free. But uh, look, you can get a friend. We're all poor and we can use them on it. So if you wanted to be nice, you know, buy one song. Exactly. You know what, I'm totally all for like artists. Like, I don't know if you guys are starving, that whole starving artist thing. You know, I know, I totally am. But yeah, money's a good thing for artists, you know. So seriously, guys, all the listeners out there go and purchase from iTunes. Don't do the whole, I don't know, however you still music, nastards, is that still, that's not around, is it? No. Or yeah, that's mostly what it's for. Definitely support this band. Definitely. Thank you. No problem. And before we go, before we actually be here full circle, I do want to know, um, what has been the influence for a bunch of your songs? Uh, influence for our song. For me, I mean, when I'm songwriting, I try to, you know, think of what, you know, something that I can group to, something I can get them to dance to, and uh, you know, that's, that's what I like to do when I go to a show. I like to, you know, get out and dance with people. And uh, that's, you know, I try to keep that in mind when I'm writing, you know, rhythms and drum beats, you know, if I'm trying to write a bass line. That's uh, that's my biggest side and factor when I'm writing songs basically. Very cool. Wow. That's really cool. Well, you know, I mean, like, I never, I always think of like songwriting to be so hard, so difficult because some people, not mentioning names, think that they're like beautiful songwriters and it kind of comes out crappy. A lot of artists on Disney, I know we've had a bunch of them on the show before. I'm sorry, but you know, it's just like you have somebody write that for you. Um, but yeah, it looks already, it's definitely a difficult thing, you know? Yeah. It comes off as it. But hey, we're actually going to check out your, this isn't really new. Is it new? Would you say that the full circle is a new single? It would, we released in July 25th. So like, it's relatively new. It's not one case. Yeah. So this is actually, we're going to check out between relatively new single. It's called, um, full circle. So what can you tell us about the song? Um, huh. We realized months later that it, that the beginning is eerily similar to that vampire weekend song. And we, we got it really funny. You'll see. Well, you guys, stay with us. We're actually going to keep you on the, on the line. And, uh, here you guys, here you go guys for all listeners out there. Here are the tweez with full circle. [Music] [Music] All of you say, just don't ease out. 'Cause I'm a home and you're stuck around. You have your chance, now you're on your own. You could try it again, but I won't be lost. [Music] It might be that I would throw up. [Music] 'Cause in you, you just don't come back to what I got. [Music] Now it's really time to learn to go here. [Music] It might be that I would throw up. [Music] [Music] Now it might be that I would throw up. [Music] All right, we are back on the, that was awesome. You guys couldn't really see it, but I was totally, I was on the webcam. Usually, I am on the webcam, but yeah, I was totally jamming to that song. That was, if you guys, you're just turning in the tweez full circle. So good. I don't even know what's going on with my switchboard right now. Just like you guys know also, I'm horrible with technology. For listeners out there, you know this, right? I'm horrible with technology. And right now, I don't know what's going on with mine. It's like blinking or something. So there we go, the tweez, there's still one there. There we go. You guys are back on. Welcome back. Thank you. That was, like I was saying, I was definitely jamming. It's such a good song. I like it. Thank you so much. Very cool. And something else that, you know, I wanted to bring up, which I think is really cool, was it the EP that you guys hand out all your shows? I loved how it's, is it a CD in shape of like a vinyl record? How cool is that? What did you guys get the crazy idea for that? That was all Jason. I like white CDs that are playing because they're cheaper. And it's not for free, so, you know, come to a show, get a new piece of free. Seriously. I mean, like, remember I got that. I was like, you know, this is the selling plate. I'm like, these guys, that's the whole reason why I brought you on the show, which I can tell you guys. Your EP is an awesome, the coolest EP I've ever seen. Thank you. Thank you very much. You're welcome. And of course, tell the listeners out there one more time, where are you guys performing tomorrow night? Wednesday night. We're performing that program. In Greenpoint Brooklyn, we're opening up this great band called the answering machine from the UK. It's really an actual band, so if you can't even make it to the show, check them out. Check us out. Yeah, definitely. Plus, it's free. And that's why I love that. It's free. Yeah. Of course. Well, hey, I want to thank you guys so much for calling in. Do you guys have fun on Buzzworthy Radio? Well, I see. Did you guys have fun on Buzzworthy Radio? Oh, hell yeah. It's fucking amazing. Yes. Very cool. Very cool. Well, I wish you guys the best of luck. I'm definitely going to try to make your show. Well, I think -- but Wednesday night, I do have to say, is our two-year anniversary. Check that out as well. So, as I'm checking out the show, you know, for you guys, check out this show as well. I'm going to be probably being two places at once. It's in New York. It's New York. That's what you can do. But you guys definitely should call in -- or, you know, listen to the show. The tweet, I want to say thanks, guys, for coming on. Thank you so much for having us. Hey, no problem. And we'll talk to you later. All right. Take care. All right. Peace out, tweets. All right, guys. As I said, get to your favorite question for the favorite clips. Maybe my blonde moment, whenever, you know, would have been many. So maybe that's your favorite moment. Check that out. I don't know. But from all of us at Buzzworthy Radio, I want to thank our special guest, the tweets. Check them out. And, yeah, get the latest Buzzworthy Radio. This is Matthew Preston saying good night.
