You're listening to buzzworthyradio.net. Check out my single Let It Rock and check out my album in the city and so is now. What is going on, everybody? Welcome to a new edition of Buzzworthy Radio. I'm your host Nivelle Jayli, coming to you. It is 9.30pm Eastern Standard Time, 6.30pm Pacific Coast time here on blogtockradio.com. On this Tuesday, September 29th, 2009. Wow, I cannot believe that September is almost over you guys. It's just like one more day and that's it. Tomorrow. Tomorrow is the last day I've ever heard of the time going to everybody. I just don't understand it, but I'm going to tell you what, we're going to spend the next 30 minutes with the one-or-flute talented Naya Rivera. She's going to be joining us in just a few moments. She stars in the hit-fuck show, Glee, so we're going to be talking with her. So if you want to get in on the conversation tonight, you can call in at 646-59-542-28. We're going to get a chat room up and running for you guys and hopefully we'll be able to get it up. In just a matter of moments, we're trying to get this loaded for you, so everybody make your way into the chat room, we'll get it working, we'll get it done for you. If not, just call in, call in with all your questions, right? So before we actually bring Naya on, I have to make this announcement. I actually was asked to do this actually yesterday, I believe it was, and Mara Sullivan, I believe. So the other thing Mara, this one's for you, definitely you guys wanted us to do a special show in regards to all the firings and everything that's going on. Yeah, we'll definitely do something with that kind of thing, it would be the best day to do it, but yeah, I think maybe, maybe the end of the week, I'm thinking so Mara, maybe I'll let you know, but I think we should definitely do it, absolutely. Everything that's going down now with everybody being like, "Oh, for GH and all my children," and I definitely want to talk about a little something going on there. So yeah, we'll look into it, we'll look into it. But we have Matthew Preston on the line joining us right now, how are you? I'm good, how are you? I'm good. What is going on? Not too much, and I will be joining us very, very shortly, but I was just making the announcement just now about how we had a request saying that we should do a show in regards to everybody being let go from all the shows that's been happening in just less than a week, so. I know, right? It's craziness. It really is. And then there's also rumors going around about one life to live, you know? Man. Man. Yeah. That one kind of stuck me. I mean, I know it's, I don't know what to say about all that yet, it's weird, I mean, I even don't know what to say about Jonathan Jackson coming back because Lucky Spencer, and I don't know what's weird, it's very, very weird that this is going on, but. Yeah, no, I definitely, it's so weird when I do have to admit this that after the cancellation of GL, I've sort of lost some hope in a way. You know, I mean, I'm not so much, because you never know, but it's like a cutting block and the favorite shows keep going. Yeah, I know a lot of people are going to say that with going like going off the air that it has the nominal effect, I guess we can call it for all the other shows to now be put onto the topic of the plot because, hello, you just now canceled a 72 year old program. I know. If you can get rid of that, then you definitely are going to be able to get rid of everything. Right? And just a reminder to all of our listeners out there, if you want to get in on all this fun, you can definitely do that by calling one to the show here, 64-6595-4228, or you can email each other, you can email each other, you can email each other, and you can definitely do that if you want to. You can definitely email and develop, or the ones with the radio, so yeah, do that. There's so many ways you can get involved with this fun show tonight, isn't it true? That's true, and again, I have no idea why the chat's not working and it wasn't working yesterday, I'm not working again today, so I didn't touch it, I didn't touch it. So it's not, it's not, it's the chat's not happening again, I don't know why that is, but, you know, we were thinking of the chat room and spirit maybe, I guess, I don't know, but, but we did try to get it up and running, but, you know, you have the number to dial in too, so, there you go, and also with Eric Braden being written out of the show, so. Wait, what just happened? You didn't know this. No, I, this is the first time you're hearing about this. Eric Braden, yes, written out of the young and the rest of us. Well, I didn't want to take a big cut, so they had to write it out. Are you kidding me? Are you serious? Like, I don't know if you guys ever watched, you know, Saturday Night Live with Amy Folar and Seth Meyers do this little like, skip thing, really, I have to say, really, really, really take time, really? Wow, I mean, oh my gosh, just wait until I tell my mother this, she's going to freak. All right, I'm kind of floored by it, and honestly, I don't think he will go anywhere. I mean, I know he said he may not be back, but honestly, I don't think he's going to leave the show, there's no way that he's going to leave the show, he can't leave the show. Lionel is Victor Newman, it is Nicki Newman, it is Jack Abbott. There's absolutely, in my guts, I don't think that he will be leaving. I don't think he'll be leaving. No, I totally agree with you. I mean, that's like Susan Moochie leaving all my children, you know? That's insanity, it's what I have to say, it's insanity. Well, I know that he didn't want to, I know that the rumblings is about the pay cut will go to happen for him, was going out for a while, and I honestly, I thought he was going to at least take it, or they're going to not get him that big as a cut. Like they did with Melanie Thomas cut, they didn't give it that big as a cut, but it was amazing to me to actually read those words in Nelson's soap just report on Monday, that they did write him out, and I don't remember what his last day on this hat was. I believe it was, was it last week? I think, don't quote me on this, but I believe it was last week, and again, it's weird, it's weird to not, to know now that we won't be seeing Eric Graydon as a gentleman, for apparently they're going to write him out, we're nicking him, we're going to take a vacation. What's going to happen here is, Melody going to be off the screen for a little while too, or she's going to come back and say something out of the victor, and she left him wherever, she left him, I don't know, it's weird, so I have absolutely no idea where they're going with it, so all I'm saying is, if you guys don't want the mustache to be gone off the show, basically it's been suggested that you guys write into CVS and Sony and young the restless, you are concerned of the fact that Eric Graydon and the character of victim human has indeed been written off the show, that is what has been informed to the people that that's what they should do, so that's all I know of the situation, that, and as soon as I know anything else, we will definitely let you know, next time. Thank you, you said something, I think I, No, I do, I'm actually getting started right now, do you think I haven't, right here, here you go, yes, I mean, no, I actually think, like I said before, I'm totally, oh, I just got put on hold, but yeah, that's one of the, that's one of the major things that's been going on, and of course, you got the pre-all my children, I say pre-all my children, I mean, because before all my children make its transition over to Los Angeles, we are already having people being let go from the show before it makes this transition, that's Ellers is now out of the show, we have a lot of reasons off all my children, Aidan Turner has been let go from all my children, and right now the, all my children said is not happy, but you know what, you know what, I'm happy now, because I think I believe our guest is on the line as we speak, is this, is this my Rivera? Yeah, it is, hi, how are you? Hi, how are you? I'm doing really, really well, thank you so much for having me. Thanks for stopping by, welcome to the show. Hi. So, I, let's, let's, let's talk about this, this character that you're playing on this, this show that I'm hearing so much about, that I'd like to watch, it's called Lee, is it? Yeah, yeah, humbly, and there is quite a bit of buzz surrounding the show now, it's hard to drive in Hollywood without seeing some posters. Yeah, who do you, let's, let's talk about who you play on this show, apparently you're, your role is described as one of the mean girls. Yes, exactly, she is a high school cheerleader named Santana Lopez. That's not Hispanic. Someone, someone was listening to Carl Santana growing up or watching this show, right, when they named you this. Exactly, no, but if she's kind of like the bad girl and, just putting the lead club, bring it down on the inside. Definitely, you can't, you can't have a show like this unless you have the bad girl on it. Exactly. Yeah, we need the bad girls on there. And I, I do have to say, Glee is like the number one show in my apartment right now, everyone's watching, everyone loves your show. Where are you going? It's like, my, my one roommate, like loves it so much. And everybody loves that show, all right. It's a great show, everyone's really liking it. So, what is it like, what is it like to be like on, like, a really hyped up show? Well, it's a little surreal just because we were kind of, you know, in a bubble for so long just like going back and forth to work and being, you know, continuously busy that we had no idea kind of what we were actually involved in. And so now it's so weird, you know, to see people responding to it. Because, you know, we know how we felt about the product that we've produced and it's just awesome to see that everyone else is enjoying it just as much as we did. How's it like working with Ryan Murphy doing this show? Oh my goodness. It's like every crew. It's a dream come, I'm such a huge fan. I don't know if you guys watch NipTack at all? Yes, we do. I didn't know if you guys liked it. Yeah. I was, I still am pretty obsessed with that show and I'm obsessed with Ryan. So, you know, when I found out that he created the show and he'd be directing it and I would get the chance to work with him, I was just floored and he's the nicest person and so funny and it's, it's amazing. He called me Nia Ryan because he says I remind you, he's working with another one of my favorite actresses, Jane Lynch, who I, you know, pretty sure is, she's definitely a villain of the show. From what I do. I mean, but she's one of those, like, you love to love her or you love to hate her. What is it like working with her? Oh, it's amazing. She's hysterical and I love all of the movies that she's ever been in, like, Best in Show and 40 Old Virgined and I get to work pretty closely with her because she plays my cheerleading coach. And so she's kind of the one that pushes us into the glee club because she hates it and she wants it taken down. So we're kind of like her little minions and it's so hard to keep a straight face in a scene with this woman and you have no idea. I have to, I have to ask, since you've said that kind of about trying to keep a straight face, one of the things that, you know, everybody pretty much started YouTubing and clipping and putting on Twitter and Facebook was the football scene of them doing the same ladies here on the field. I mean, this, this scene, like, just popped up everywhere online. I just saw today for the first time, just let y'all know, and it is hilarious. It really is. Yeah. That was, let me tell you, I have never been more sexually aroused by anything that was so good in my entire life. We've never had a test day that on air before. I don't get the first time. Thank you. Everybody is allowed to say what everybody want on this show. Exactly. I've never heard that before. That one yet. I think this is now going in one of my favorite moments of this program. You know what I was just going to say that thing. Like I said, just a reminder, you have a two-year anniversary coming up. That might just be going in one of our best moments. Thank you. I'm really really proud, but that's honestly how I felt. It was, like, you know, 20, like, buff, like high, like football player guys dancing to single ladies and just, like, doing things with their hips that I cannot even do. And if it's amazing. So, to over-guiding, like, that's over-guiding. I think I was only found, Pat, let me tell you, I mean, I said Beyonce would have been proud looking at these guys doing this video right here. I'm like, that's not an easy dance to learn. It is not easy. You all were down, this was out there. I tried it. I'm so tired. Well, you know you tried it. I know you tried it. I'm totally right. So, there you go. To all the guys out there who are listening, if you want to get a girl, specifically, it's ugly, all you have to do is dance because you will be on the dance. Exactly. You're wearing your Beyonce moves. I guarantee you, you will have a girlfriend. That's all you got to do. Learn Beyonce moves and you pretty much will have a girl not going on your door. I think that's the advice of me even. There you go. People have a lot of homework to do. That's right. That's right. I think I'm going to start taking pointers right now. So, what's coming up on Glee for you, if you can say? Well, there's a lot of musical members that we're going to start doing. So far, you know, the club hasn't really been like put together. It was just like completed in the last episode. So, now going forward, we're all going to be performing every week, which is awesome. And then, you know, I'm just going to continue to do my best to wreak havoc on the school and the club. And yeah. I have to, I have to say, like we were talking about all of these, you're talking about all these moments of going on with the show. You get your scripts, you know, you're looking at them. Do you have those moments where you go, "Oh my God, I cannot believe I'm actually going to be doing this." Yes. Every single week, we face like Christmas when we get the script. And I just read through it and literally laugh out loud and can't believe it. And we have a joke like every time something crazy, like the single ladies thing happens. We'll look at each other and be like, "This is the best show in the history of television." It is. It is. It is. It's funny. Really, why I ask that is because, you know, when you think of Ryan Murphy and what he does on his talk, it's like so drama-induced. You know, there's like a few funny clips there with Dylan Walsh and Julian McMahon with each other, you know, but it's really full of drama drama on the show. And then you watch Glee and you're watching Ryan Murphy's work on Glee, and it's like, that's a complete and total 180 of what you see on NFTUD compared to what's happening here. It's really, really crazy, but yet fun at the same time to know that his talents is escalating and you guys are pretty much proving that to hell on this program. Yeah. I think that at this point, there's, you know, nothing that Ryan can't do. I think he's proved that by going from one end of the spectrum to the other with Glee, like you said, but I think that when, you know, when you do watch it, especially being such an avid viewer of like his earlier work, you can see him like all throughout it, you know, and like some of the things that are so left field that happen on Glee, you're like, "Oh, that's right." Right. Right. Exactly. Exactly. Exactly. You know, go ahead. There are so many, oh, there are so many, like, I was actually talking to my roommate. He loved the show. He was like, "I'm gonna put half in the last episode. I missed the last episode." But speaking of drama, can we say pregnancies? I mean, there are so many pregnancies going on the show. I thought I was like, I thought I was like, "Are you telling me what happened on Network's place?" Or, you know, seriously, it was definitely... Please explain. What is going on with those pregnancies? The pregnancy stuff is that pretty much like the driving storyline of, you know, the first half of this first season. Everyone's pregnant or not pregnant or losing babies or trying to find babies. And it's all babies, babies. I really like the way that, like, you know, intertwines, like, Quinn's pregnant now and he's faking her pregnancy, so she wants Quinn's baby, which I think is so insane. He actually thinks that they could just, like, take someone else's baby. That's where we stand with all the pregnancies. Oh, that's too funny. That's too funny. What is the fan response have you seen been to the show? Have you been so surprised that everybody has been loving the show and as much as we are? Because, like we said, we cannot stop talking about this show. I don't think that a day goes by where Lee is not mentioned throughout a course of a day. That's awesome. Everyone, like, kind of knew that it was going to be a hit and that people were going to enjoy it, but I don't think that we knew that it would be as big as it is kind of getting. But, you know, when working on it and seeing all the stuff and just having my cheek flat, I mean, hurt from laughing every day at work, I pretty much knew that everyone was going to be on the same page. So, I have to ask, since this show is about basically being about a green cloud forming, can you sing? Can you sing? Oh, you're asking me if I have the ability to or if I will sing right now? You have the ability to sing. Yes, I have the ability to sing. I've been singing all my life as well as acting. So, it's so cool to be able to do both on the same show. Well, how did you get started in acting? I know you looked up all you had to forget that. How did you get started? Well, my mom actually had moved out here from the Midwest to pursue modeling and, you know, she got, again, pregnancies. She got pregnant with me and decided that I would give it a try. And she, you know, just drove me around to auditions for 16 years. I was booking things, you know, something to hear, something to earn. It just never stopped. Oh, I just, like, taken aback when she, you know, it's just been so funny listening to you tonight because it's just like, you first said that and it's like, and then she became pregnant with me. There's just, it's just, you are a good interviewer. I'm telling her interview. I think so. I mean, you know, I'm just in here like, wow, we can deliver a lot on this show tonight, and I'm serious. And just, just from everyone know right now, like, if you guys can hear the sirens and then, you know, the wheels, everything, I am on the streets of New York right now. That's where I'm doing the show from. And Glee, I actually was walking past, Glee, you guys have this amazing signage going on for, you know, I hear somewhere all the time where the characters are holding elves on their forehead for the, yeah, I love it. I got to say, creative, very creative. That was some marketing genius right there. I mean, because that's old school, but the loser signed and totally brought it back. My favorite poster is Jane holding it over, over Matt's head, with bringing her mouth wide open. That's my favorite poster. Oh, that is so funny. Let me ask you this. Let's, let's, let's, let's put this out there. How much of Nia Rivera is in your Glee character, or vice versa? That's a good one. I would say there's about 50% on a good day, and then if I'm pissed at someone, then I'm definitely fantastic. Yeah, I take it out quickly. Really? Yeah, I mean, well, with the exception of being, like, crazy rude to people, because of not, I'm not like that. Like, I'm not, you know, throwing out insults all the time, but I definitely, I definitely do have her, like, bad girl edge at times, and, you know, I kind of like to be manipulative. Sometimes who doesn't? It's fun. So how did you, how did you get into the role? I mean, like, you got, like, for example, mean girls, I mean, the bad girls club, what, what did you, how did you prepare? Well, actually, I did, you know what, let's, let's call it that. Me watching the bad girls club for years now, in collaboration. So now I have something to justify it. Thank you. Well, what's your favorite thing to do? We have to know one of your favorite season of bad girls. Last one I really liked. Yeah, right? Really insane. Why are you, like, breaking the house? Like, I know, you'll get in, you'll find the key. No. Yeah, it's always been kind of like my dream to be on that show, but I can't fight, so I don't think that would work out. Great. Little trivia, little trivia out here, we're going to, we're going to pull out on you. Nice girl. You, uh, you actually played a character called Nice Girl. I hate simple rules. Isn't that awesome? That's why I'm so famous. I think so. I mean, really, you, you actually played... Okay, first of all, how in the world did that happen? And were you on this episode when John Ritter was, was filled with us? Um, yes, John Ritter was still, it was a Halloween episode, and the whole nice girl thing, it's like, you know, sometimes I guess casting records, it's, it's the part so small. And writers are just, yeah, I know, but yeah, I'll just call her Nice Girl. So, literally, I walked into my trailer, and it was like, Nice Girl, Splash and I Rivera, and I was like, I have made it. That's so cool. It's just been like, they were just lazy to name the character, just like, I don't want to call them. That's exactly what I think it was. They do it, you know, sometimes it'll be like, waiter number one, boy number two, and that's kind of, it was like, they do it in like, horror films all the time, like, teen, straggler, you know, morning, guy, or punk dude. I mean, yeah. Yeah, that's what that was. I never heard of anybody being called Nice Girl before, and it probably was like, it was like that in the credits to the episode. Now I Rivera have Nice Girl. Never heard of it. It was really humiliating. I couldn't tell my friends like, yeah, nice girl. And really, that's the character I played, it's Nice Girl, that's that's it. Yeah, no, I'm curious, like, my name is Nice Girl. They said it's an ethnic girl with black hair last night, Rivera. That's probably, that probably would have been a lot better for you, wouldn't it? Just because I call them the best, that is Nice Girl. Yeah, yes. I think Nice Girl was insulting. I do. I think, I think, I think, I think me even being called a Nice Guy, I think that would be insulting. I don't want to be called a Nice Guy. I know. I'm not a Nice Girl. What does that even mean? Yeah. I'd like to be even if he was this. Come on, I don't know. No, let's be awesome there. You know, most of our, most of the guests we have on, like, last night, we had Crystal Pollo, and she was like, you know what, I want to be a bad girl. It just seems like the bad girls get the best things and the best lines. So you must be doing something right if you're playing a bad girl, you know? Yeah, it is fun. I do think that I get some really good stuff, and you know, I get to offend people on an almost daily basis. And I think that people are a little jealous. It's awesome. Well, they, yeah, because for me, specifically, just like watching, it's like, I wonder how many girls really want to act like that in real life, but they don't have the chance to do it, you know? Probably a lot. Well, you know, the girls that I went to high school with, they had no qualms about actually like that towards me. So, I've seen it first hand. Yeah, I see it first hand myself, but I kind of counteracted that because I wasn't nice in high school either. But, you know, but I've had, I've seen it and I got it. I gotta do it. I just have a background, I think, but, you know, it's called redemption. You know, look at where at now, seriously. They're probably watching on TV. They can always mean to that girl. I'm cool. So great, but I'm just on TV. So, I don't even think it would go that route. I think they would be like, oh my gosh, she and I used to be like, best trans in high school. And I always thought, oh, you know, that's how I would do that. Yeah, it's funny. I think they wouldn't have done that too, but, you know, who knows where they're at now. Just worry about what Naya Rivera is doing. And that's basically it. You're doing Lee. We can watch you every, oh my goodness, oh my goodness. Wednesday, Wednesday, every Wednesday. At nine. At nine. I had a written down too, and I just like, lost it. I did. I had it like, I had it written on my computer, all my screens staring at me, and then my screen was like, I'm like, oh crap. Navell, did you have a brain? I think you had a brain spark. That's what happened. It totally happened. I did. I did. I like to call that. Pulling her Wendy Williams. Somebody who watches the suit. You watch the design. Is that what I'm hearing? I watch Wendy Williams and the suit. Yes, I love the suit. And Joel McCale. Thank you. Thank you. Yeah. Love Joel McCale. Love Joel McCale. And we love Wendy Williams. Just because we love watching her do stuff like that. Seriously, let's get her on the show, you know? Maybe show some brain parts with her. You never know. You never know. Well, did you have fun here tonight, by the way? I had an awesome time. You guys are great. Well, thank you. You're great too. Thank you. You were funny. You were. You were. You were. You were. You were. You're on a comedy. You're doing good. You're awesome. I think you're like, I think you're like the only guest that pretty much like made me have a brain fart and pull Wendy Williams on the show. I don't think any other guest has done that before. No, I think you just, that's the current I can ever give anybody. It's a daily occurrence for me because I'm like, you know, I have a, I sort of, I think I made you leave, but yeah, that's just, that's the biggest choice, you know? Brain parts out of the engine. No, you guys were great. Thank you so much. Well, thank you. You're welcome. Have a good night. You too. All right. All right. Everybody. Exactly. Well, Navell, what are we going to be on next? Well, you know, we're actually going to be out of here for a little bit. Really? I love all of you. We always, it's like, I'm not saying, we always have like two shows that are like, well, we're going to have a highest. You know, I might, you know, I should get it to show. It's been a while since I have, but I might give a pull off the show. How does that sound? If you can pull it off, pull it off. Why not? I, but I know that next we were setting up stuff, hopefully. I'm not telling you who it is yet, but we should be setting up some stuff and, oh, my gosh, we have a collar calling in. We do? Yeah, we do. You, five, seven, one, you just missed Naya Rivera. Five, seven, one, you're on the air. Hello? No, they hung out. Oh, crap. You know what, as soon as I said it, I'm not going to call them out and then call them and hang out the phone. I was like, if you just called in the few seconds earlier, you would have gotten this. You would have gotten this there. Well, I want to thank our, I want to make a special guest and all of our listeners out there. I don't want to think to develop a set on this awesome interview.
