And we also are going to be running the chat room in just a few minutes here. I do not have an open book. We will be running it up very shortly. Joining us on the line right now is my co-host Matthew Preston. How are you doing there, Matt? And by the way, I'm the Val Jaylee because I didn't introduce myself either. So let me, let me fix that. I'm the Val Jaylee and right now here's Matthew Preston right here. Wait, hold up. I thought that I was in the Val Jaylee. What's going on? Wait a minute. Is this that week where we actually trade places? Exactly. I forgot. I got to review my show schedule here. Is this the day that I'm Matthew Preston or is this the day I'm the Val Jaylee? I don't know. I don't remember. Maybe it's the cold getting to us because it's so brilliant. I was, for some reason, I was like, I've never come on the show, I'm always complaining about the cold weather. It is freezing. I think it's cold. It is freezing outside. In the words of basically what everybody says, baby, it's cold outside. It is. Thanks. I'm happy. I'm happy. I don't have to work. Let's put it that way. I'm happy. I don't have to work today. I think before our guest gets on the line here, why don't you tell everybody your news of what you did today. I didn't tell anybody. This is our first show of the day since we have two shows today. We do. It's not to have them promoting this one for the past week or two, but at three o'clock, it's three o'clock all the time, 12 o'clock their time, just making sure you have this back where it's like all over the place. Yeah. But at three p.m., each was seven times today, we will be having on, from my bloody downtime, writer and star Todd Farmer. I actually got to see it yesterday. I will be talking all about it and telling him my thoughts about the movie. He'll be hearing it. Absolutely. I just want to let you know that since this is basically a show where we promote, like practically everybody else. It's funny when you told me about that Todd Farmer was going to be on the show because last night when I got home, there was another blood talk radio show that was actually talking with someone from my bloody Valentine 3D. I'm Pearson, right? Yes. Moving from movie geek. He was actually the reason Brian was actually, you know, it was really funny because I saw that too. When I wasn't sure if that show was just, you know, like reviewing the movie or talking with the movie, because I was actually going to call in, but then I found out that they actually had a guest from it and I'm like, "No, that's too cheesy and tacky. I'm not going to do that." But yeah, Brian. No, no, no, no. I love movie geek. I actually know the host of that. I actually. Oh, I know. I just thought that it would have been too cheesy to be like, "Oh, hey, you know, what's up, Brian?" But, you know, no. So Brian Pearson was actually the director of photography for the movie and I have him to thank because he was sort of like the person who offered me the stand in the job. So, and actually he was the one who, after I actually, at the wrap-up party, I shook his hand, I thanked him. And I was just like, you know, I, Jensen's like an intricate taller than me. He's well built. I'm thin. Thin is like a length of the board. How in the hell did I get this job? And he actually, he spoke to me and he says, "A good personality goes a long way." And I was just like, "Well, thank you so much." So I felt really honored to have worked with him. So that's, you know, honestly, if it's, if my buddy Valentine people are hitting the blog talk radio circuit, then it's, you know, it's going to be going around. And it's an amazing film. So you guys definitely, if you want, go and see it in 3D. If you can see it in 2D, yeah, that's cool. But I'm telling you, it was made for 3D. Absolutely. And I believe we have our guest on the line right now. Oh, she hung out. Oh, no. It looked like I was about to take her and she hung out. And that's actually her calling me on my telephone right now. Let me take my phone. Let me take my phone and bring her off the phone. That was good. So, you know what, I'm totally going to talk. Let me tell you guys, if you were on the East Coast, it is so cold out there. I want you guys to, you know, make sure to bundle up, because I was, you know, I work in the morning and I have to do some market research stuff. If you guys don't know, I might act her, but I'm also a market researcher. And it was just really freezing. We had to be outside for a drive-through thing today. It was just really cold out. So if you guys are going out, I'm not like a father figure or a weatherman, weatherman/father figure. I'll take both, whatever. Just make sure you guys bundle up. I mean, I'm talking like, do you want to get frostbitten, you know? Because I'm not attractive. It's not cool. Maybe, oh, maybe if you like frostbitten things, I don't know. Maybe that's your thing. Who knows? But definitely bundle up. It's freezing out. Again, Matt. Just this, but I get your attention since, you know, you're running on a 56k modem. You can't really operate the switchboard, like, again, on, you know, on that. And I had someone special with me on the phone that I would like you to meet. Her name's Cassie Freeman, I believe, and she plays on this show called Smallville. I mean, I don't know if you've ever heard of it. I've heard of it. I'm glad. Have you ever watched it before? I mean, it's like, my god, George, you know what? He's on the TV, so why not? Well, Cassie, welcome to the show. How are you? I'm great. How are you? Pretty cool. They're doing pretty good. Okay. He was, you know, pretty much talking to himself. So I think he was doing very, very well. You know, I often talk to myself. I'm not going to lie. No, I wasn't talking to myself. I was talking to the listeners out there. So, you know what I mean. You were talking to yourself. Don't lie. You were talking to yourself. Somebody was listening. Yeah. Someone's always listening. That's true. So you play the role of Tess Mercer on the show. Lou is a newcomer to Smallville. You basically take it over LexCorp, your character. Yeah, LisaCorp, I have. Yeah. I, he appointed me the new CEO. So I came in, business suit, a blazing, and took it over. Wow. Yeah. How, how are you approached for the role? I had originally done a, a pilot for the CW, like last April, called Austin Golden Hour, which everyone thought was like another, like, Mike Myers movie. They were like, what is that? And it actually, it was a, it was a really cool show. Unfortunately, it didn't get picked up. It was kind of like 20-something Grey's Anatomy, but then you have to ask yourself, like, are these 23-year-olds really going to save my life? And the answer was no. So, so did not get picked up. But it, it introduced me to the CW. And then this new role for Smallville came out when Michael Rosenbaum said that he wasn't in the mood to shave his head for another year. And, um, and so they, they called me into audition and I guess they liked me. Really? That was the reason he didn't want to shave it for another year. Can you imagine shaving your head for seven years every single day? I knew he had hair. I knew he had hair. And I've seen him with his locks. And I, and I have, I've seen him with his locks and I really, I've had no idea that was probably the reason why he did not want to do another season because he, he's actually, he's come out to say that he'll come back and do the season finale this year if they'll let him wear a bald cap instead of shaving his head. So, you know, you never know what's going to happen. But I can't imagine it. And, you know, we shoot in Vancouver. So it's not like, it's warm and sunny. It's freaking freezing. And, uh, CW shows are shot, or like in Canada. You know, I know Gossip Girl is not shot out here. I know Supernatural is. Supernatural is, yeah. And then actually, I have word that they just came out here to shoot another one that, that they're shooting a pilot right now. I think they just, they have the like the land out here, you know. And it's, um, it's kind of simple. It's pretty, pretty predictable weather as well. Rain. It's good, no. Rain. Rain. Rain. Rain. I think that runs in the scene. I love it though. I mean, I'm not from the west coast. So living in LA for three years is almost like a time warp for me. I was like, I don't know when the months are passing because every day is the same. So where are you originally from? I'm originally from downtown Chicago. Cool. Yeah. Very cool. So you're used to the cold as the, it's on the body. Yeah. Exactly. And then I went to college in Vermont, which is like the coldest of cold. So oh my god, yeah. The only place colder than Vermont, I think is Montreal. So, um, yeah. So I'm used to it, and I enjoy it, but I'm not going to lie. The few times I get on to LA and revel in the sun, I'm pretty happy. I read in your bio that you're actually a little trivia guys. You were born on Earth Day. So are you, since you were born on Earth Day, I have to add that. I do have the power of the elements. Yeah. I do. I don't want to go there, but I was pretty much going to say, do you go green? I go green. I go green every day. I do actually, I'm a big, I'm a big environmentalist, but I care very much about the environment to the point where I'll actually unfortunately get in like arguments with people that I don't know in public quite loudly about their plastic bag usage. No, I'm just, I won't really get into arguments, but I do. I, I, I have, I will admit one thing, which is kind of funny. The other day I forgot to bring a biodegradable bag to pick up my dog, you know, good stuff. And I, and I actually buried it in snow instead of picking it up because I couldn't, I couldn't imagine picking up plastic. Oh my gosh. Oh wow. When you pick it up to plastic, it just like sits in the landfill. And now they have these biodegradable bags like you have to buy them. So I actually, I saw Tony Shalub on the Bonnie Hunt Show and he was promoting some sort of new pooper scooper. I forget what it does, but maybe he's so, maybe he's marketing what it does. Right. Maybe he's marketing new pooper scoopers, but who knows? I, but isn't that why, why aren't all of our trash can't, why aren't all of our trash bags biodegradable, you know? I agree. There you go. It's a good question. So how did you, how did you get into acting, whether the passion of yours or did you do that now? Yeah, no, I was totally brainwashed as a child and my parents were like, you will act. I have two older brothers and they're both actors. So it kind of, I think there's a weird dominant gene in our family. But my dad, my mom was a dancer in her younger years and she threw me into ballet at the age of like, you know, 12 months. And so I was already performing at the age of three and then my dad loved the opera. And Chicago has a pretty great opera house, the lyric opera of Chicago. And my dad thought, yeah, it's a really beautiful opera house and a great program. My dad was like, what would make the opera better? And he thought, my kids in it. So then he like convinced the opera to like, you know, you can convince the opera to hire us. There's like the little kids in the opera, you know, like in the chorus and whatever and screaming things across the stage, it's the middle midget. And so I started doing that and I kind of got used to being around the theater and being around people that wear a lot of crazy makeup. And then I just, I kept acting all my life. This is my first kind of foray into television. So before this, it's been theater and dancing and stuff like that. And you're also, besides the fact that you're doing this role now in Swango, I'm here that you're going to be starring alongside your brother. You're going to be in an indie flick this summer, I believe? Yes, I am. It's called Yellow Brick Road, which is like, it's like, do you ever see the movie that thing you do? Oh, this is like a total side fight. This is not, it's not anything like that, where it's not Tom Hanks is not in the movie, we're not doing music. But you know, in that movie, when they call them neonators, because they're really called The Wonder. Yes. Okay, the movie is called Yellow Brick Road, but it's all one word and all capitalized. But when you actually like see that, you're like, yellow brick, like people can't say it. But it's called Yellow Brick Road. And it's a horror movie, and it's about this town in New Hampshire that disappeared. And the town in New Hampshire disappeared, and nobody knows why. And so, in present day, eight people are going to walk this trailhead that they went down to see what happened, and they kind of get possessed. It's a pretty cool story, pretty creepy. It does look pretty cool. Hopefully, you guys don't fight over a map, and there is no witch that I'm totally happy. And if it's black and white, then I don't know. I don't know what to do. But two of my good friends in college wrote it, and they're just super talented dudes. And the opportunity to play with my brother, because we're playing brother and sister in the movie. So, it's kind of an opportunity you can't pass that. Looked out Donnie Marie, seriously. First thing I thought of when I saw the title, I said Wizard of Oz, anybody? Yeah, but it's like creepy Wizard of Oz. It's like taking childhood and making it scarier. I like that. Yeah, no one's going to dress up like a scarecrow. It's not like literally. We still don't know if we're going to go another season, so the next six months of my life are pretty much in the air. Well, hopefully, since you just got the job, hopefully, you do. We're rooting for you. Hey, thanks. You know, it's a nice little giggy cat going on there. It's great. Yeah. You got a really impressive background. By background, I mean, you're your native American, you're German, you're Scottish, you're Jewish, and you have Estonian roots in you. I mean, my god, woman. Wow. See, you think that it's really sweet. My mother just calls me a mutt. A mutt? I'm a mutt. Yeah, I'm like a mixture of so many things. But yeah, I do. I have a pretty eclectic background. I've never heard of anybody being called a mutt before. This is new to me. Really? I mean, my mom. There you go. That's another point. That's what mom calls. You know, what else? We've got to say that. So, for all the small fields that I came into, tongue twister for all the small bill fans out there, can you give us a little preview of what's going to happen with your character and what's going to happen with it? What do you know that we can know? Well, first of all, we start back up tonight, which is exciting. Tonight is our new 2009 episode coming up. And you'll find out in the next couple of weeks basically how I relate to Lex, for real. It's been kind of up in the air of how it's tested. And Lex are connected and why he chose her and why she's the she's this like random new CEO of Luther Corp that comes in season eight. And you figure that out. And you also will figure out what happens to Lex in the next couple of weeks, which is pretty exciting. So I think people are very into his character and a little sad that he's gone. As am I, I'm sad. I never got to work with him. But you'll figure that out. And Clark is going to be getting closer and closer and closer to becoming the S-word, which I won't even say. We'll even get super in. Wait, what? Yes. That's the word. I thought you had to get word, but I was just like, you know, I've already put more in like six times on this now. It's fun. It's internet. It'll beat me out. But yeah. The test kind of finds her own. She's about to find her own rhythm. And instead of playing Lex and doing whatever he would do and following the rules, she starts making her own rule and creating her own company, which is pretty awesome. So if you had superpowers, what would it be and why? You know, whenever I'm asked this question, I always feel that I always feel like I should maybe change it up so that if they all get gifted to me, then I'd have a lot of six powers. But it's in the same one. It's to speak every language fluently. Wow. And just be able to understand anyone that speaks to me. I think that would be really close to the power. That would be pretty cool. Flueango. That could be like you're like, you know. Yeah. Let's try to do a name for that person. What would the name be, guys? What would this be for your own name be for someone who speaks every language? And I'm including animals in this better way. I want to talk to the birds. I can miss. I think we'll woman maybe. You know, you can't really think of a good one. Finally. I guess we must have a BW on the chest or something. Like communication, chick. Oh, yeah. That's a tough one. I have to get a back view on that one. Yeah, no. What do you like to do? If you're not acting, what do you like to do in this bird hunt? In my spirit, I spend a lot of spare time with my daughter who's the light of my life. She's a 50 pound Swiss mountain dog and her name is Shasta. And I'm definitely obsessed. And I love what I like to do. I like to travel. I'll go anywhere to see my parents. I like to read. I think I'm kind of boring as a person. You ask people that they're like, I like to skydive. I like to go flunking in Switzerland. And I'm like, I like to drink coffee. I just like to live, you know? When you're working like really long hours, it's like, it's kind of nice to chill. Vancouver, though, in terms of its differences from Southern California, it's got so much wilderness. And it's really fun to get up here and go snowboarding and go hiking. It's just nice to be in the mountains. I'm totally, totally the same way. I think that, you know, quiet, like, dinners, I'd rather, you know, hang out with friends, dinner-wise, then going to, like, a club or a bar or just having reading a book. What? Going, you know, oh, we are all opposite. You know what? Coffee houses and books, I'm like, totally there, you know? If it's like writing, like, you know, chilling at a coffee house and just writing or something, that's fun to me. Not like, hey, I'm going to go to a bar and, you know, what's your name? We're actually streaming, you know? Yeah. I will say, though, I do, I do support the monthly blackout, you know what I mean? Like, you got to party it out at least once a month. And then, and then you get it out of your system. You really do. Yeah. There's actually, there's this cafe across the street from where I live in Venice Beach in Southern California called the novel cafe. And it's like, it's like a coffee shop from the 60s. It's like, people just hang out. My dad calls it sketchy. I call it quirky. It's for people just like, hang out and, and write. And it's like, everyone's speaking a different language. And I'm working on my superpower, but I just go in there. So that's right. Really? Yeah. Yeah. So what's this? About the real decoy. What was that? First of all, the real decoy is a band that I play in with my brother, the same brother. I have two brothers, but the one I keep talking about is the same one. His real name is Clark, which only makes things funnier. Yeah. He really is Superman. We'll talk about that later. It's a band that we formed like three years ago with a friend of ours from college who also lives in LA who's actually one of the writers of Yellow Book Road. We're a pretty incestuous group of artists. But it's a band that we recorded as CD and we played all around Los Angeles and then I got this gig and our guitarist got another writing gig on the East Coast. So whenever we're together, we play, but it's been difficult as of late. So would you go that far yourself as a really good singer? Um, yes. I mean, that's like, would you classify yourself as like a really good sleeper, you know? Like, it's something that I enjoy doing. It's something that people, you know, enjoy watching me do. It's, I love singing. I've sang my whole life. And in college, I was in an acapella group. We were called the mama jamas. They still were having their 15 year reunion this spring, actually. And I'm going to try and make it up there. Um, once you, once you start singing at a young age, I feel like you never really stop. But I'd say I'm a much better singer than a piano player, which is what I play in that band. I got broken into doing karaoke when I go on my vacation by by someone. And I, because I said, I can't sing to save my life. Oh, I don't own it. But I made fun of them about the fact that he can't dance. But, you know, I'm sure you were fine. But let's talk about that, like, that, that saying for a second to save my life. Can you imagine someone being like, sing, or I will kill you? You know what? That would totally be small. Build a musical. There you go. You may have a buffing musical episode, buffing the vampires in there, the musical. They can have a small build a musical. And then you have to sing to save. I wish they would. I wish they would. Actually, a comic on during our panel, someone asked what show we would like to, like, mesh with, you know, like, like what show we would like to join forces. Everyone was like, yeah, right. Small girl. That's more like, um, but everyone was like, supernatural, like, you know, Buffy. And I was like, American idol. That was my answer. Because like, I would love to see you guys up there, like, fighting to be the next American idol. That's pretty small, Bill. What did you sing at karaoke? What did you sing? Um, I'm going to, I'm going to, I actually leave her vacation next Wednesday. He just wanted to fill it in there. He just wanted to throw it in there. He just wanted to throw it in there. He just wanted to throw it in there. He just wanted to throw it in there. He just wanted to throw everyone's face that he's going on vacation. That's all it is. I haven't announced it to make about that. Because I'm on vacation the third week of January. That's what I said. Thank you. That's like when you're supposed to be back at the grime stone. Exactly. I didn't have vacation during the winter. This is my vacation next week. And then of course. It's still the winter. The middle winter. And then I'm going to be right back out doing a vacation again on spring break. So, you know, it's like, well, man, what the hell, why not? Hey, man, if you can go for it, I stopped feeling guilty for days off a while ago. There you go. We have something that we like to ask you. Well, mainly me. Not my co-host, but mainly me. We would love for you to do a promo for us if you would ask for that. Yeah, you would have, but you don't count. You don't count right now. I count. Okay, okay. If you would like to do a promo for us, we'd love for you to do the one. Yeah. What is that entail? Talk to me. All right. You can say, like, this is Kathy Freeman from the CW Smallville. And you are listening to Buzzworthy Radio. Or, you know, you can add your own spin on it. However you want to say it, it doesn't have to be that cheesy or lame. You know, it's funny. I don't think that's cheesy or lame. Yes. That's so sweet. Yeah. Yeah, no problem. Just go whenever. Should I wait for this truck to pass, so you don't have a truck noise? It would be probably awesome, but it would be good, yeah. Or you could have done it with the truck there. You know, we don't have, you know, people like that up in the background before. Okay. I'll go for it. You ready? Yes. Okay. Hi. This is Kathy Freeman from CW Smallville. And right this moment, you are listening to Buzzworthy Radio. I'd like to actually add it the right this moment part. You know, you have to bring it into the present. Yes, you do. That's awesome. Thank you so much. That's really cool. Yeah. Thank you. And for those of you who are listening right now, make sure to catch Smallville on the CW every Thursday night, which is today at 8/7 Central. The new episodes start up tonight, as she said. We don't get to find out what happens after the doomsday attack, I believe. Yeah. Take place tonight. So make sure you guys check that out. 8/7 Central on the CW. Yay. Yay. Thank you so much, Kathy Freeman, for joining us. Did you have fun? Oh, my God. I had so much fun. Awesome. Come on. You guys are funny. Awesome. That's what I like to hear. And, you know, you are welcome back anytime. The door is always open. I'll be calling you every morning at 9. Okay. That'll be a first. It will take the call too. Don't worry. Take care, guys. Take care. All right. You too. As for all you listeners out there, this is not the first show. This is not the first end. The first puts up the last. Again, just a reminder, we will be back on in, what, two and a half hours, I believe? Yeah. We're at half hours. We'll be back on, again, with Todd Farmer from-- Todd Farmer, I believe, Valentine 3D. And that's what I want to think. I know that we only have 15 seconds left in the live feed, but you guys will have to go into the archive mode to hear this announcement. Yes. I am going on so cruise next Thursday. I will be attending this. However, there's a proposition I want to make to all you listeners out there. My roommate actually had to back out of the cruise. Okay. Now, since he had to back out, he paid for the trip in full, which is non-refundable because it's late in the game. The crui-- the cruise for the roommate hasn't paid in full. So here's the thing. It's now up to me to decide what I want to do. If I want to find someone to take his place, or if I want to have the room to myself, take the room for yourself. I feel like this is a game show. Go for the room for yourself. That's the room for yourself. Don't take the room for the room. In this situation, I can either have someone come in his place, they get to go on a free cruise. All I have to pay is airfarer, or I get the pleasure of having this two bedroom suite by myself. I've got trains there. I'll pay trains. I said I've totally paid trains there. Do we know this? I'm sure I'm probably busy. I have a huge obligation. I'm in play, so I can't go see you guys. If you want to go, you totally take my place, because I'm sure you would love to ask me to go. It's totally cool. I'm saying go, go by yourself. Go have a room by yourself.
